The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to read six books during the summer holiday. The role is avaialble from July - September Working in the library the Summer Reading Challenge volunteer talks to children about the books they have read and hands out rewards. Tasks Talking to children aged 4-11 years and their parents/guardians about books and reading Encouraging children to enrol in the challenge Motivating children to continue and complete the challenge Talking to children about the books they are reading Handing out reading rewards Skills required Customer focus Excellent interpersonal and communication skills A friendly and patient manner Basic Literacy Outgoing and Confident Ability to record information accurately Reliable and punctual Other notes Minimum 2 hour shift per week Minimum age for this role 13 years
