Just a Helping Hand was launched in January 2016 by members of Beacon Church, Chertsey in Surrey, to help local people in Runnymede and the surrounding areas who find themselves homeless. We pride ourselves on giving good quality practical essentials in a rucksack that will both assist and bless the person receiving them, which is really important to us. Among the items in each rucksack we include a washbag with toiletries, Cuppa Soup, a flask with refill information (for free at local outlets), new socks and underwear, hat, scarf and gloves, meal vouchers, and a small bible. We also have a selection of cleaned and ironed pre-loved clothing and a selection of good quality shoes. We also signpost people to services which are available to help them in their current situation. At Beacon church there are shower and laundry facilities useable on a pre-booked appointment system to ensure that they are available.
