The Dorchester Trust for Counselling and Psychotherapy is a registered charity which was set up in 2005. It is a small Charity providing up to two years of therapy or counselling on a once a week basis to those people living within travelling distance of Dorchester who cannot afford a private fee. We offer the opportunity for clients to explore in a careful way difficulties and predicaments in the present which may stem from past hurts and conflicts. Issues that we may be able to help with include: trauma either in childhood or later in life; sexual or physical abuse; relationship problems; reduced confidence; low or depressed mood; anxiety; bereavement and loss; adverse life events; post-natal depression. A proportion of the counsellors and therapists who work for the Trust are trainees and so we may not be able to help if your difficulties are of a severe and enduring nature and/ or if you have previously received help and treatment from the Community Mental Health Service.
