Uckfield Heritage are recruiting volunteers for their shop floor, with duties including tidying shelves, replacing stock tried on by customers, and advising customers where they might find what they want. The role would require the volunteer to be visible in the sales area, talking to customers and guiding them to what they are looking for, as well as ensuring shelves are as tidy as possible and items of clothing that fall from hangars are replaced. It would not normally require use of the till or card machine, unless the volunteer feels they are willing to do this. Essentially, the role is to ensure shelves and racks are tidy and people can find what they want. Hours are by arrangement. The shop is open 6 days a week, 9-00 to 4-00. Volunteers would work hours convenient to them. Some of their current people offer half a day a week, others a couple of hours here and there – they are grateful for the support volunteers can offer.
