St Wilfrid’s Hospice provides high-quality care for people across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield (and all points between) with life-limiting conditions. Their expert teams support the physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual and practical needs of patients, and their families and carers. This is in the hospice building, in patients’ own home and in local care homes. Less than 30% of the funds needed to run the hospice and its services comes from the NHS – meaning they count on the community to help us with the rest. Volunteers support the hospice in various roles at the hospice itself, or by volunteering at one of the shops. The Inpatient Unit At the hospice building in Eastbourne the Inpatient Unit has ensuite rooms that all look out onto the courtyard or orchard gardens. Patients are admitted for short stays to help manage symptoms. Some will die in the hospice, whilst many are discharged after a short stay. Support at home
